Parker 78R-SC is a three-piece double-edge safety razor with a textured satin chrome handle and a closed-comb head. This is the satin chrome version, rather than the separate graphite-finished 78R-GR.

Choose it if you prefer to remove the handle and lift off the base plate when changing a blade. Unlike a butterfly razor, the head separates into parts for loading and cleaning. Its approximately 102mm length and 82g weight give it a full-length format with a patterned grip.

Fitting a Blade and Using the Razor

Unscrew the handle while holding the head securely, away from the cutting edges. Place the blade on the top cap, replace the base plate in its correct orientation and refit the handle. Check that the exposed edges look even and that the head is secure before shaving.

Use lather and light pressure, taking short strokes rather than pressing the head into the skin. The shave depends on blade choice and technique as well as the razor. After use, rinse the head and leave the parts to dry; avoid abrasive cleaners on the plated finish.

Daily shaver? Sensitive skin? Try this!

Anyone familiar with Parker razors will know that, in general, they tend to be more on the aggressive side. The 78R is an exception. This is a mild/medium razor with barely any blade feel which, for a daily shaver (especially with sensitive skin) is a joy to use! Paired with a sharp blade (aren't they all??), (e.g. I used a Nacet blade, but, as always, YMMV) and a good-quality soap or cream, a smooth, comfortable, irritation-free shave is pretty much in the bag. Maybe not quite as ''autopilot'' as the Parker Aeroshave razor, but very close. For me, this razor is a 'keeper', and I'm so glad I bought it. If I had a 'gripe' it would be about the long, skinny handle; but when I consider all the positive things about this razor, the handle is hardly worth a mention. In any case, because it uses the standard M5 thread, it could always be swapped out for a different handle.
