Collection: Double Edge Safety Razors
Double edge safety razors use standard DE razor blades and are chosen for close, controlled traditional shaving. Compare closed comb, open comb, slant and adjustable designs from brands including Merkur, Henson, Parker and MUHLE.
A milder safety razor can suit daily shaving or sensitive skin, while open comb, slant and adjustable razors give more blade feel for heavier growth. Pair with suitable double edge razor blades, shaving cream or soap for a complete wet shaving setup.

About Double Edge Safety Razors
About Double Edge Safety Razors
Double edge safety razors use replaceable double edge blades and are a popular choice for traditional wet shaving. They can reduce plastic waste compared with cartridge systems, allow a wide choice of blades, and give more control over the shave. This collection includes mild everyday razors, adjustable models, open comb razors, slant razors, and premium precision-machined options from brands such as Henson, Merkur, Parker, and MUHLE.
Choosing the Right Razor Type
Beginners usually start with a mild closed comb razor because it is forgiving and easy to control. Adjustable razors allow the blade gap to be changed, which helps if your beard growth varies through the week. Open comb razors are useful for longer or heavier growth, while slant razors cut with a slicing action that can suit coarse stubble.
Precision-machined razors such as Henson AL13 and Ti22 razors guide the blade angle very consistently. The best choice depends on beard density, skin sensitivity, handle preference and how much blade feel you want.
Blades and Accessories
Most double edge razors accept standard double edge razor blades, so blade choice becomes part of the setup. A sharper blade can make a mild razor more efficient, while a smoother blade may suit sensitive skin. Useful accessories include a razor stand, travel case, shaving cream, shaving soap, and post-shave products such as alum blocks and balms. For new shavers, a blade sampler is often more useful than guessing one blade brand from the start.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a double edge safety razor?
A double edge safety razor is a traditional razor that uses a replaceable blade with two shaving edges. Most use standard double edge razor blades, giving a wide choice of blade feel and price.
Which double edge safety razor is best for sensitive skin?
Many sensitive-skin shavers start with a mild closed comb razor and a smooth blade. Avoid heavy pressure, use a protective lather from shaving cream or shaving soap, and finish with suitable post-shave care.
Should I choose fixed, open comb, slant or adjustable?
Choose fixed closed comb for everyday control, open comb for longer growth, slant for a slicing feel on coarse stubble, or adjustable safety razors if you want to change blade feel between shaves.

from 390 reviewsThis brush (T3) is amazing and fantastic value for money. Well made and made to last. Robust when lathering up with no need to pre soak before use. Highly recommended.
Having just got back into wet shaving, I thought I would try the T3 Trafalgar & Henson AL13++. I've just used both of them and they are fantastic. The T3 is great for lathering and no need to pre soak. The Henson is just something else. If you are new to wet shaving, go for this, I didn’t have any nicks but a really close shave (3 passes). Don’t be put off as it is very lightweight, the blade will do the work and you will learn how much pressure you need to apply after a couple of uses. Using these going forward will be an absolute pleasure. Highly recommended, both of them.
Taylor of Old Bond Street is a wonderful shaving cream and I highly recommend to all.
Simpson Bay Rum shaving cream has got a very delicate but elegant scent, not too overpowering but very pleasant throughout the shave. The cream lathers easily and it's very slick, the razor will glide effortlessly. Post shave is very good, my skin was left soft and elastic even before applying the post shave balm. Definitely recommended!
After several years my old razor stopped aligning the blade correctly. This razor is a much better design, easier to clean, and a very smooth shave.
I have the Muhle R89 standard, however I wanted I wanted to improve on it for two main reasons, a longer handle and having a two rather than three piece head, whilst retaining the R89 head. The R89 'twist' was just what I needed and it most definitely works for.
Highly recommended well done male grooming for rapid dispatch
salter shaving creams never dissapoint, performance is great and aftershave feel fantastic.
the vetiver fragrance is a very dark earthy fragrance if you like vetiver this is for you
cannot fault this cream only wish they did matching splashes or balms
I’ve used these with the Henson AL13 and they seem to work very well! I suspect I may never have to buy any more razor blades for the rest of my life…!
I've used a few regular safety razors before, but I've never had a shave this smooth and clean. I finally tried this bad boy with an open comb, and it has been a total game-changer! Yes, you need a good technique, but the results are absolutely remarkable.
It also has excellent moisturizing effects.
I've moved from badger to boar due to using soaps instead of creams. The boar bristles are stiffer and better suited to soaps. This lathers up well and softens the beard ready to shave.
Excellent product - so pleased someone is still selling it
